Promotion and relegation !!!

July 10, 2008

With us lying 6th only 38 points behind Walsall who we play this weekend a must win for any chances we have this year !!!

as for relegation this week is the turn for home, we need positive cricket for rest of season after this week we finally have a home game after 5 weeks on the road

were currently 55 points clear from 2nd bottom, remember if more than 1 Warwickshire league side get relegated from the Birmingham league div 3 then 3 or even 4 can go down, so its vital we stay keen and available for 2008

Marston Green have 100 points only 32 behind keep it going guys we need positive performances

Losing draw but on top against Cov SPHINX

July 10, 2008

only managing 142 all out ASCC were on the back foot, Evergreen Gary Loveridge at no 10 smashed a great 40 in a solid partnership with club no 11 Leight Barnett (Improving all the time with 11 not out, yet still to be out on a saturday) only 5 getting into double figures, Harry & Ricey started solid with 37 partnership, wicket was spiced up by overnight rain !!!

in reply Sphinx started badly 51-7 from from 21 overs, only resistance coming from Paul Charnley (Sphinx’s football manager and ex C&NWW player) with a solid 64 Not Out, no other batsman had reached double figures

so when the rain came down and finished the game somehow ASCC had managed a losing draw Sphinx 90-7 had nosed in front of the rate !! so 14 points to Sphinx and 8 to ASCC leaving us 6th in the table

Ibby with another good bowling spell 4-28, Ricey & Ash collected 1 wicket each

Umpires man of the match: Paul Charnley SPHINX

Horsley Comes good but sports only manage Winning Draw !!

early wickets for Ibby and Ash Harrison have Massey’s down to 63-7 before a solid 53 from number 9 Ireland holds up the innings along with opener Davies 34 from 118 balls, Harry Removes both and sports need the final wickets, many bowling changes and a great effort sports fall short and take home 18 points, leaving Massey’s on 170-9 batting out the last 10 overs for a losing draw

Umpire’s Man of the Match: Harry “Houdini” Horsley “still another yard of pace required

sports stay 5th in the league

Sports 151-5 in 30 overs before rain ended the game 21st june 2008, Runs shared around with Ashley harrison stranded on 48 Not Out

Sports suffer 2nd lose of the season

June 15, 2008

Away to Streetly – Ricey won the toss and elected to field on a small very pretty looking ground

having decided to bowl, 4 players then get stuck in traffic and we start with 7 players “the joys of being a captain” seeing as im writing this my mood was’nt at its best pretty much through the 1st 25 overs

Anyway after dropping Finlay on 0 with 7 players he then smashes a fine 125 “Bourts didnt see it”  3rd over we finally had 11 there Captain Yeend supported him well with 53, opening stand 140 from 30 overs sports had some work to do, Irfan in his 2nd game bowled well taking 4-87 from 17 overs, Yorkie, Barnett and Ash Harrison all tried hard but the scoreboard never quiet got under control, streetly finishing with 286-9 from 50 overs, Stimpy collecting 2 wickets mainly due to the great work behind the stumps from the evergreen Gary Loveridge

Chasing down the total, Mo And Harry opened up, Harry had a life early but failed to capitalise on this going for 14, Mo looked good and again got himself out, Ibby and Irfan went cheaply bringing Ricey to the crease 84-4, Both Him and Immy built and strong partnership both pasing half centuries before Ricey is caught behind by Keeper Curtis standing up trying to guide one down !! ERROR CAPTAIN

Immy passes a well made 100, but then the collapse, Sports needing 69 to win from 10 overs with 5 wickets left somehow chucked it away in kamakazi fashion, Ash, Yorkie, Gaz and Bourts all went within 5 overs leaving Immy stranded needing 41 to win with Stimpy Barnett, a massive 6 and then next ball its game over for Attleborough, a mixed effort allround !!!

Captains Comments: being a young side, we must improve are general confidence when under pressure teams dont come to be beat, we need to adapt more to chasing a total and build and innings, a flashy 20-30 here and there isn’t going to win a game EVER !!!  TAKE responsibility you score the runs don’t leave it to anyone else, when things are bad in the field we need to stick together as a unit. one mistake from myself was not bowling Harry more, but like i said not a great thinking day from me after the late arrival of Ibby, Immy Mo and Irfan !!!

Umpires man of the match: Streetly’s Sean Finlay (125) well played

on another point poor sportsman ship by streetly, we clapped 50’s,100’s they didnt very poor

Fine Win against Marston Green 1sts – 7th June 2008

June 8, 2008

Attleborough Sports v Marston Green 1sts

Having won the Toss Skipper Rice decides to bowl 1st on a drying wicket, good tight spells from Ibby Sadiq and Russell Rice and Marston were struggling on 34-3 from 20 overs, the next 30 overs Marston fought back some solid batting from Youngster Mo Kahn 86 not out supported by Eaton (29) MacDonough 24 and Marston Green finished there innings on 197-7 with 75 runs coming from the last 10 overs

key spells from Sadiq 10 overs 1-11, Rice 3-41 from 12, and Youngster Ashley Harrison 2-50 from 11

in reply Harry Horsley smashed a classy 39 including 9 fours, supported by Mo Patel 16, then Ibby Sadiq followed up with a whirlwind 57, new signing Irfan Kahn hit a solid 36 and Skipper Rice 19 Not Out gave Sports the 20 points in 39.3 for a loss of 5 wickets

Umpires Man of the match: Ibby Sadiq

Winning the Toss Vital and Produces Fine win for Sports V Ambleside 1sts

June 1, 2008

After persistant rain around Nuneaton through the week winning the toss proves vital for ASCC, Putting Ambleside in on a damp & uneven wicket  and also producing another fine fielding and catching display from Sports 1st team, bowling 1st ambleside shot out for 90 in 38.1 Overs

tight Spells from Ash Harrison and Ricey early on had Ambleside 23-4 from 11 overs, some fine catching from Bourton, Ricey, Harry Horsley before Yorkie not his normal self but still ripping 3 players out for 21, Bringing Leigh”Stimpy”Barnett on and golden arm took the last 3 wickets for 8 runs, fine team Performance , more good catches from Ash Harrison and Gazza Loveridge and Attleborough’s time to bat

Ibby opened up with Mo Patel and put on 57 before both went on the same score, Ibby 39 and mo Patient 15, Harry H arrived and went, leaving Skipper Ricey and Ash Harrison to wrap the game up in 24.5 overs for 3 wickets

fine 20 points achieved and moving Sports to 4th in the league

Umpires man of the match: Skipper Russell Rice – 19 overs 3-41 and 20 not out on not the best pitch

good spell from Ash Harrison

and steady batting from Mo Patel

Bad Spirit ruins close game v Civil Service

May 27, 2008

ASCC v Civil Service, Rain delays covers on covers off how did Sports not get a winning draw ??

not a lot to say other than great bowling spells from youngsters Yorkie 14 overs 1 wkt for 45 runs and Harry Horlsey 15 overs 1 wkt for 66 runs Civil servie 211 from 50 overs

Fairly poor Spirit from Civil Service, arguing about Chasing total simple Math !! D2ckhead divide 50 by your score and then multiple by 29 you really are *******d, Sports finally had 29 overs to gain 123 or better 125 for anther point.

Ibby woke up with the bat after 3 shocking overs with the ball and scored 52 from 40 balls sports had the winning draw in place but quick wickets and Ibby not seeing home ended 2 runs short and lost 6 points, Battting is a major worry for Sports at present, no real conviction is evident.

feels like a lose but was’nt !!!  sh!t day all round, Ricey goes from 110 Not Out to a 2nd ball duck cricket brings you down very quickly

Ibby gets man of the match ??? surely 4-15 from Jonar Ahmed is worthy as they collected the winning draw ??

ASCC currently 6th being the only side to lose a game to the weather nothing changes there, 20 points of 2nd can the youth secure a top 2 berth this season ???

Ambleside Away 31st May 2008 – 12.45pm meet @ Ambleside
