in reply Harry Horlsey was given LBW @ 1-1, new signing Mo Patel and Ash Harrison then layed down a solid partnership putting on 49, ash going for a well made 18 from 70 balls, in came Ibby and started steady but with the ever impressive Patel at the other end, both gained confidence Mo final out for a again well made 36 from 78 balls, bringing skipper Rice to the crease, Ibby smashed it everywhere as usual but then holed out on 64 from 48 balls, brining bradders to the crease, but Skipper Ricey then decided to smash it himself finished with 26 from 17 balls to end the game and a vital 20 points

Sports whallopped in close 1st league game 08

May 7, 2008

A new youthful look with many new players making there ASCC debut, young Leg spinner Alan York moving From Hinckley along with Harry Horlsey and Ash Harrison

having won the toss ASCC decided to bat 1st, pitch played well considering the weather through the week, setting a total slightly below par 142 sports needed to start fast

at drinks 25 overs Walsall’s total was 65-5, game on with good spells from Ibby skipper Rice and youngsters Yorkie and Harrison, then the magic came from Walsall Nagman smashing 42 from 2 overs and finishing with 70 from 31 balls to end any hope that ascc would take maximum points

Walsall finished 143-6 in 31 overs

great spells from all with a minor hurricane in the 26/27th over – not sure what they gave him at drinks

3 points gained not a great start after last years near promotion
